Barcelona: The Thinker

The Thinker

In October 03 Judi (my wife) and I managed to get a weekend away together in Barcelona. The children were on a school trip to Germany and there are now many cheap flights available in Europe so it seemed like a good thing to do. We had a great time!.

This week I am taking Barcelona as my theme, though I am not necessarily going to put up pictures of the city itself, rather some interesting (to me) photos whic I took. Of course I got lots of the normal ones to bore the family with as well ;-)

This is one of the many statues adorning the partially complete Gaudi designed cathedral in Barcelona. I found it attractive and the pensive nature of the sculpture made me think as well!

Nice shot. There is so much feeling in the sculpture as if he is really thinking, you've captured it well.

With all the angular lines it looks like Picasso's rendition of The Thinker. But I know nothing about art. Excuse my ignorance.

What a great statue! I love his face--the lines are amazing, and give him such a sad, pensive look...

Great details and texture. I wonder how long it took to create something like that. Any idea how old it is? I'd love to visit Barcelona one day, and I'm really looking forward to your series.

I thought no one would notice the statue looks sad... but thank God someone did! ;)

I love it... it looks like someone who had a misfortune in life and is wondering about it... Great!

Great shot and mainly great theme for the week! ;)

Amazing sculpture. Such emotion in his face and the way he holds his hands. Nicely captured. I will enjoy looking at Barcelona through the details rather than the traditional tourist sites. :)
