Flowers: Pink

Wandering around Blenheim Palace on Sunday in the rose gardens I saw this rose - it just had to be captured.

This is as seen - a little contrst & sharpening added.

Somebody asked what RAW is yesterday - it is a format for saving a picture which closely resembles what the camera sensor captured and is not processed into a JPEG image. It is good because it contains much more ionformation and allows it to be converted to a JPEG in the computer choosing either camera settings or any other values chosen for a number of parameters as many times as you like. It is commonly called a digital negative.

Ian, the photo is just divine, what a perfect shot. I would love to see Blenheim Palace someday. I spent some time in Cheltenham a few years ago and it was beautiful. I also want to say I'm just so heartbroken over the terrible news out of London this morning. I hope you and your family are all safe and my heart and prayers go out to everyone there.

The focus at the top is very nice, and the color is divine. A couple of stops smaller would have kept your outside edges a little crisper; but I don't know if that would have improved the image or not, because the soft focus/blur on the far edges work well. It would have been nice to compare the two images though.

I tend to go to the extremes of either sharply or softly focused - I suppose I should occasionally try the middle ground.

I really like the soft colors of this flower. It's in beautiful shape, and would definitely make my neighbor jealous. She is out messing with hers every day.

Ian, I had not visited for some days because I was too busy, and I found a variety of beautiful flower shots, a nice departure from the colder abstracts you master so well too. I'm worried about the sad events taking place in London, and hope you and your family and friends are o.k. My best wishes, my thoughts and my prayers go to all innocent victims involved.
